Anders Visti (DK) : "Working like an idiot" (2007)
made for machine-RAUM 2007.

The work "Working like an idiot" by Anders Visti is a digital instrument installed in the Spinning Mills boiler-room. The boiler-room is an abandoned factory hall, five open storeys high, with large boilers, iron staircases, piping and machines.

Users of the work can interact with a digital user interface that registers movement in the factory space with the aid of video cameras. These movements are reinterpreted, activating sound samples that are played back through loudspeakers in the factory’s boilers and pipes.

Perhaps you sometimes have some spare time – If you have time for it. Perhaps you sometimes drive down to the sea in your car and gaze out at the horizon. Maybe you lift yours hands up to your face, cupping them and shout out across the water with all your lung’s might: ”Have a perpetually Nice Weekend, you idiot!!”
